In 2009 Halmark approached Animax to help them relaunch the Rainbow Brite IP with a new look and a new toy line.  I was tasked with directing, storyboarding, and partially animating a short based on a provided script and on a very limited budget.  The characters libraries proved to be incredibly challenging with all their gradient heavy coloring, but we managed to make it work.  The final result definitely ruffled some feathers of those that grew up with the 80’s cartoon, but at least we learned how to push the limits of a Flash character library.
